Anoxia
Anoxia is a condition in which an organ’s tissues suffer oxygen deprivation, although there is adequate blood flow to the tissue. In severe cases of anoxia, from any cause, the baby is often comatose (in a state of unconsciousness) for periods ranging from hours to days, weeks, or months. Seizures or myoclonic jerks (muscle spasms or twitches) may also occur.
Anoxia may occur due to a variety of circumstances during birth. For example, if the infant becomes tangled in the umbilical cord, the infant is too large to fit through the birth canal, or the infant is in breach position. Anoxia can lead to very serious injuries including cerebral palsy, brain damage, or death.
If you or someone you know has been injured due to Anoxia, you may be entitled to monetary compensation. Please fill out the form below for a free evaluation of your claim by an experienced attorney. There is no cost or obligation for this service.
